Cohesin derived from Bacteroides cellulosolvens
CohBc Cohesin is a binding domain that attaches proteins containing a complementary dockerin domain to a protein scaffold (called scaffoldin) which is usually anchored to the surface of the cell. The whole protein complex is called the cellulosome. Thanks to the non-covalent interactions between cohesins and dockerins, enzymes are immobilized in close proximity with each other as well as close to the surface of the cell. The cohesin-dockerin interaction is species-specific. This cohesin is derived from Bacteroides cellulosolvens and will interact only with the dockerin from the same species (BBa_K3590017).
